The Recreate Responsibly Steering Committee formed in the Autumn of 2020 to provide ongoing vision and direction for the growing coalition and campaign. It is made up of people from across industries and perspectives, brought together by a shared passion for and sense of responsibility to care for the places we play.
Juan Martinez
As a Senior Fellow at the Aspen Institute, Juan co-founded Fresh Tracks, a youth-led cross cultural revolution, rooted in the healing power of the outdoors; implementing indigenous community of practice. His work has grown strategy for systems change and youth power building while also lifting up successful stories of civic engagement and community organizing.
Cooper Lambla
Cooper’s respect for nature and desire to help others to engage with the natural environment has led to over a decade and a half of experience within the outdoor industry. As a creative director, storyteller, and explorer, Cooper merges the world of recreation and community engagement; having kayaked in over 40 countries across six continents.

Jessica Godinez

Jessica is a first generation Mexican, passionate about ensuring safe and equitable opportunities for all. At the Hispanic Access Foundation she works to ensure outdoor access & equity through community engagement, education, & advocacy. In her free time, Jess can be found in natural world - climbing, hiking, camping, or simply existing in the outdoors.
Danica Carey
At family-run Seirus Innovation, Danica is passionate about communicating the benefits of the outdoors. Her lifetime in the outdoor industry has been mirrored by passion for traditional sports, including a collegiate soccer career. She continues to pursue recreational endeavors personally and professionally.
CJ Goulding
CJ is passionate about facilitating growth in people, community, and leadership. In his work with the Children & Nature Network and Fresh Tracks, CJ has trained and mentored a national network of over 330 leaders who are changing systems and creating equitable access to nature in their communities. His most recent venture is Boys in the Woods.
Ben Lawhon
Ben Lawhon is a seasoned conservation professional with deep commitment to environmental protection through research, education, and public/private collaboration. He is the Founder and Principal of Recreation Solutions Group where he works protected areas to assess, understand, and solve visitor-use impacts to ensure a sustainable recreation future for all.
Kenji Haroutunian
Shelma Jun
Shelma is a rock climber, filmmaker and the founder of Flash Foxy and the Women's Climbing Festival. Also a Board Member for the Access Fund and an Apprentice Rock Guide for the American Mountain Guide Association, she is committed to creating sustainable access to the outdoors that is welcoming to all.
Nick Miner
Kenji is an award-winning leader in trade events & outdoor recreation, and has facilitated market engagement for thousands of businesses. He currently directs the Big Gear Show, Outdoor Media Summit, & Climb Smart, while serving on the boards of Access Fund and California Outdoor Recreation Partnership.
Leading Congressional efforts on urban forestry for American Forests, Nick spearheads efforts to advance Tree Equity and forestry policy in Congress. He’s spent over a decade leading campaigns across the country where, most recently, he helped to permanently authorize the Land and Water Conservation Fund.

Lindsay Church
As the Digital Communications Manager at EarthCorps, Marisol loves creating digital media content that encourages others to recreate responsibly and restore nature's resources. She also serves on the Board of EchoX, a cross-community and cross-generational initiative to amplify regional ethnic communities’ voices.
Originally from Mongolia, now residing in Colorado, Dolgio spent 12 years in New York City in investment banking. She’s since invested energy in outdoor protection; also founding the Ouray Backcountry Alliance to foster productive dialogue about the management of world-famous backcountry resources.
After serving in the Navy as a Persian-Farsi linguist; medically retiring in 2012, Lindsay returned to Seattle to attend the University of Washington. There, she founded Minority Vets in an effort to support and advocate for veterans of color, women, LGBTQ, religious & non-religious minorities, and allies.

Invest Outside supports grassroots efforts to connect the most underrepresented communities to nature. Previously Tom served as Principal Deputy Director for Public Engagement at the White House Council on Environmental Quality, and as Associate Director of Strategic Partnerships at the U.S. Dept. of Commerce.
Samantha Bragg
Sam is the seventh generation of a large, vibrant Deaf family in Maine's great woods, passionate about creating equitable and inclusive space in the outdoors for Deaf and Hard of Hearing folks. After obtaining a Masters in Outdoor Leadership from Saybrook University and NOLS, Sam joined CorpsTHAT, intending to build a bridge of connecting the Deaf community and the outdoors through education, recreation, and careers.
As the Head of Government Affairs for REI Co-op, Taldi oversees the Co-op’s government affairs and policy-related community investments. Her work focuses on fostering collaborative partnerships with non-profits and decision makers to ensure equitable access to and infrastructure for inspiring outdoor recreation opportunities.
Shonto Greyeyes
Drawing from lived experience, Shonto strives to cultivate more mindful, environmentally conscious leaders within communities that don’t have resources dedicated to conservation or land stewardship. When not working, he can be found rock climbing, or tending to his family farm on the Navajo Nation.
Sandi Marra
The vision of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy is that the Appalachian Trail and its surrounding landscape are protected forever for all to enjoy. Sandi’s work ensures a vision that can help inform the work of Recreate Responsibly as we look to build a new generation of land stewards across the country.
Eric Raymond
At The North Face, Eric leads brand and sustainability communications, advocacy around public lands, climate change and equity in the outdoors and The North Face Explore Fund platform. He’s focused on helping people everywhere connect and grow through the power of exploration.

Eugenie Bostrom
As the founder of Embracing the Bear consulting, Eugenie manages oversight of the Recreate Responsibly Coalition & Campaign; leaning on 20 yrs of experience working with Federal Land Management agencies & managing coalitions, advocacy efforts & large-scale partnerships. She is a poet, author and advocate of all things natural & healing.
Katie Boué
Katie Boué has led Recreate Responsibly’s social media and communications strategy since the national coalition was founded in Spring 2020. She believes every outdoorist has a responsibility to be a steward to the land. Katie is co-chair of the RRC Communications Committee, and a supporting member of the Create Responsibly working group.

Since June of 2020 the Recreate Responsibly Coalition & Campaign has been managed by Embracing the Bear Consulting.
SUPPORTING MEMBERS.
Vivian supports the Recreate Responsibly Coalition with their communication and administrative tasks. She is a former park ranger who grew up in Southern California in a Taiwanese immigrant family. Vivian finds joy in being outside including hiking, climbing, mountaineering, and eating good food with good company.
